Roll Notes: 2000 P Lincoln Cent Wide AM

Found 12/25 in a bank wrapped roll. Wide AM variety, with centered A in STATES and strong FG initials.

On standard circulation strikes, the A and M in AMERICA touch. On this coin, there is a clear gap between the letters, confirming the Wide AM reverse hub. The designer’s initials have the correct curl to the G and the A in STATES is centered.

Regular circulated condition. These are often pulled from circulation, the variety is more important than the condition. Condition matters for value, but the identification is binary: the reverse is either Wide AM or it isn’t.

Reverse die was originally destined to be for proofs, but some got mixed into the business strikes. The variety is found in 1998, 1999 and 2000. The 1998 is the scarcest year.
