Genuine Cents was created to help collectors learn how to spot real coins and avoid getting burned by the fakes, the hype, and the nonsense.

This isn’t one of those sites written for people who’ve been collecting since the ’50s. You won’t find ten paragraphs explaining what a penny is.

Instead, you’ll find clear, honest guides about:

• How to tell if a coin is fake or altered
• What really makes a coin valuable
• The stories and history behind U.S. coinage
• Tools and techniques that actually work

Everything here is written by someone who’s still learning, but who’s learned enough to know what to watch out for. The goal isn’t to pretend I know it all. It’s to build something real, from the ground up, and help other collectors along the way.
